by Walter Smith 28/02/2013

It was a great day to receive an award from her Royal Highness the Princess Royal at the awards ceremony on 26th Feb.

Walter Smith Fine Foods were awarded “Best company training scheme”. HR Director, Paul Cadman (bottom left), received the award along with his fellow Retail Director, Robert Jones (bottom 2nd from left), who said “This award covers the whole of the UK and we believe we were successful because we’ve been delivering high quality training to all our employees for over 100 years. The earliest photographic evidence we have dates back to the 1930’s when G.A. Smith was captured training a group of young butchers.

The company trained the 2011/12 Meat Apprentice of the Year (Richard Carter) who is employed at the company’s Chase Farm Shop in Sutton Coldfield along with other Meat Training Council prize winners over the last 5 years. These include: 2009/10 Mark Chalmers, Shop Manager; 2010/11 Denise Engley, NVQ Assessor; 2011/12 James Green, recently promoted to Assistant Manager; and 2012/13 Craig Cutler, Senior Butcher.

Training and Development for Walter Smith Fine Foods is designed and delivered by its sister company Crosby Management Training Limited.
